Cedar Care for Every Stage of Your Home
Cedar is a premium exterior material, but it needs the right care to stay protected in New Zealand conditions. Sun, salt air, rain, shade, mould and old coating build-up can all affect how cedar looks and performs over time.
Cedar Master provides a complete cedar care service, from regular maintenance washing through to full restoration and recoating. We help you understand what your cedar needs now, what finish options are suitable, and how to keep the timber looking its best in future.
Cedar Maintenance
Regular cedar maintenance helps prevent coating failure, surface staining, mould growth and premature weathering, keeping your timber protected for longer.
Cedar Restoration
Our cedar restoration service is designed for timber that has become faded, blackened, dry, patchy or heavily weathered and needs careful preparation before recoating.
Cedar Washing & Preparation
Correct washing and surface preparation are essential before oiling, staining or painting, as the final result depends heavily on the condition of the timber beneath.
Cedar Oiling
Cedar oiling enhances the natural grain of the timber while helping protect the surface from moisture, UV exposure and weathering.
Cedar Staining
Cedar staining allows you to refresh or change the tone of your home while maintaining a natural timber appearance.
Cedar Painting
For homes where a painted finish is preferred or required, we can prepare and coat cedar surfaces with a clean, durable exterior paint system.
Colour & Product Inspiration
Find the Right Cedar Colour, Tone and Finish for Your Cedar Home
Choosing a cedar finish is much easier when you can see real homes, real timber and real results. Our cedar colour and product inspiration library helps you compare common coating systems, colour tones and finish types using completed Cedar Master projects.
Browse by natural, honey, warm brown, dark, black, grey and weathered cedar tones, or explore examples by product range including Dryden WoodOil, Cutek, Wood-X, Resene waterborne stain, Resene oil stain and Wattyl oil stain.
Each finish can look different depending on the age of the cedar, previous coatings, sun exposure, shade, surrounding materials and the level of preparation required. That is why we recommend using colour charts as a starting point, then viewing real project examples before making a final decision.
